People, place and practical support

Keeping refugee families in view in Tanzania.

Tanzania's refugee context has changed: UNHCR reports that Nduta camp closed in April 2026, while its August 2026 data continues to list Nyarugusu. Our country pages distinguish the current camp from the community connected to former Nduta.

OWAID's stated mission includes refugee communities in Tanzania. Our concern for orphans, widows and refugee families includes continuity in education, secure housing and access to health support as families navigate change.

A place name alone cannot explain a family's situation. Speak with OWAID about current outreach, needs and appropriate ways to help. We are guided by Christian compassion and a commitment to serve regardless of faith or background.

  • Continuity in children's education
  • Family and caregiver support
  • Housing and health stability

This page provides regional context. Contact OWAID to confirm current outreach, available projects and the arrangements for any location-specific gift.

Help with a clear purpose

A thoughtful response to changing circumstances.

Displacement, returns and settlement changes affect what support is appropriate. Speak with OWAID about the current context in Tanzania before designating a gift for a named community.

You can help through a one-time gift, ongoing support, fundraising or an appropriate partnership. The team can discuss a program’s scope, budget and the information available to supporters.
